After a moped or two, started at 19 on a 450cc Ducati Scrambler (www.ducatiscrambler.com) and a 500cc Motoguzzi V-twin cafe´racer, the Monza. This last bike lasted a whole 18 years, and I rode to in excess of 150.000 miles , it was eventually falling to bits! I now have a 650cc Suzuki Savage single - the ideal rat bike to tease posers on shiny Harleys who won´t ride beyond their neighborhood ! My icons? Dennis Hopper in ´Easy Rider´ (but I don´t push, I don´t even smoke!) and a mad Englishman who toured the world in 1974 on a 500cc Triumph Tiger ´Jupiter´s Travels´! I forget his name at the moment. My Savage is not going to be ridden on sunny days only, and is not going to be a showroom glitter queen. I bought her from a guy over 500 miles away from my place, and rode the last 100 in pouring rain! She´s going to be modified alright, kickstart if at all possible, or even the entire engine from a DR750, and a lighting system meant to make me see at night, rather than be seen during the day... ... and a springer front fork if I find one.
