This is an old an old 1980 honda cm400E bike my mother purchased for herself new in 1980. The bike has been abandoned for over 16 years. I never ridden a bike on the road in my life and I think this would be a good bike to start off with. I dug it out of my mother's garage in the summer of 2005 and I wanted to see if she started. It's amazing how a bike that was not started or moved for 16 years can still run. All it needed to run properly was a carb rebuild. The bike was so badly rusted due to it sitting in a damp garage almost all the chrome had to be replaced or rechrome and all the paint needed repainting. I knew that this is going to be a difficult project but the bike has been with us for the last 27 years and I was determined to restore it on my own even though I don't have a clue is to what I was doing. My husband and my father just told me to buy another bike which made me even more determined to restore it. I purchased the manual, studied that and researched online. I have worked hard all summer on it and it is almost complete. I stripped the frame and painted it along with everything else that needed repainting. I also was able to purchase alot of great parts including a NOS gas tank , engine side covers, entire exhaust, shocks, front and rear spoke wheels etc .. I posted pictures of the bike showing my progress. I have found someone who has restored this same bike and he has been very VERY helpful to me as far as selling me most of my parts and giving me advice .
