James Pierre, Jr. (Chicago Area): I enjoy motorcycle riding and motorcycle traveling. I have traveled riding my 2004 Suzuki Intruder 1400 from the Chicago area to: Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky Ohio, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. Hot or cold weather it rides well and is dependable. The next bike I buy will have a tall hill to climb to measure up to the experiences and dependability this bike so far has given me. I am a proud owner of a 2004 Suzuki Intruder 1400. Well, on May 11, 2006 I purchase a 2006 Suzuki V-Strom DL1000. On May 26, 2006 I embarked on a motorcycle trip traveling 2900.3 miles, covering 13 states. I can say that I found a motorcycle that can tour the country no matter what the terrain: hills, mountains, highways or country roads..The V-Strom DL1000. I am 5ยด7" tall. I feel comfortable and in control at all times ( a very easy motorcycle to handle). I like the way the motorcycle handle in traffic and the front brakes are perfect during hilly slope slow downs and sudden stops. July 24, 2008 I officially purchased a Yamaha FJR1300A. I purchased the cycle based on the riding experience with the 2006 Suzuki DL1000: rode bike, comfort, handling, speed, manuverability, gas tank, price. I give high praise to the Suzuki DL1000 period. What I like about the 2008 FJR1300 is the handling, comfort and quick acceleration. The cycle is made for the highway where I travel most here in the Chicago area: Higways: 294, 290 94, 90, 355, 55 and 20 to name just a few. My September 2008 ride to Rapid City, South Dakota (Mt. Rushmore and Wounded Knee) should determine just how great the 2008 FJR1300 really is and in October 2008 my ride to New Orleans. I tried the Kawasaki Concours and ST1300..the FJR1300 got them beat. Sept. 5-11, 2009: Just completed trip from South Elgin, IL 60177 to Greenville, North Carolina by way of Indianapolis, IN, Louisville, KY, Lexington, KY, Knoxville, TN (Highway 40 over the mountains) to: Asheville, NC Winston-Salem, NC, Raleigh, NC and finally to Greenville, NC. I rode directly from South Elgin, IL straight to Kernersville, NC on the other side of Winston-Salem, NC and spent the night before traveling to Greenville, NC my destination. On the way back I left Greenville, NC to Winston-Salem, NC took highway 52 to highway 74, highway 77 Beckley, WVa to Charleston, WVa (highway 64) to Huntington, WVa to Lexington, Ky Louisville, KY and spent the night before heading to South Elgin, IL the next morning. The 2008 FJR1300A is a mighty machine.
