gobike Kawasaki MX Team
The gobike Kawasaki MX team is based in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory (ACT), Australia.
Established in 2004 as a local rider development team; gobike is a stepping stone to help some promising young ACT Motorcycle Club Kawasaki riders move through the amateur junior motocross ranks to the professional senior ranks.
The team combined the resources of one of Australia“s top Kawasaki dealer“s, Mike Houston“s Canberra Motorcycle Centre, Australia“s largest on-line motorcycle accessories shop, www.gobike.com.au, headed by Darren Jeffrey, and 4 riders from 3 local families, Matt Haskins #26, Lach Haskins #81, Scott Mukojid #27 and Jamie Austin #266.
It was an interesting and bold move by the sponsors, riders and families, and one that had an immediate and positive impact on the local MX scene. Soon other dealers, riders and families pooled their resources to form similar MX teams and now the ACT Motorcycle Club boasts at least 5 serious and professional looking teams who add colour and excitement to every MX race day.
gobikeās 2005 lineup included the 3 seniors; Scott, Matt and Lach, plus one new Junior, Jack McNeice #265.
The team has starred in the last 2 year“s Canberra Monster Truck shows under lights, putting on a demonstration of FMX, car jumping, stadium cross MX and tricks like stoppies and mono“s, in front of 10,000 screaming fans.
In 2006 they have 2 seniors Lach Haskins #81 (M2R, Fox, Spy, Alpine Stars) and Scott Abigail #72 (M2R, Fox, Spy, Alpine Stars). Junior rider Jack McNeice #265 (M2R, No Fear, Dragon, Oxtar Boots) will races one bike under the gobike banner and another with the Canberra Motorcycle Centre Kawasaki Junior MX Team.
They compete in Local, State and National events.
The team not only promotes rider development, but personal development as well. Team members coach new junior riders through the Motorcycling NSW Junior Rider Training Program at the ACT MCCās Fairbairn Park complex. Allan McNeice oversees the coaching, Brothers Matt and Lach Haskins show them how to āput the rubber to the roadā in complete control and safety, 17 year old Scott is pretty handy on the practical demos, and 14 year old Jack has shown promise at teaching the theory bits, mentoring the younger riders, and popping monoās.
The team is also sponsored by Motul Oils, RK Chains and Sprockets and Dunlop tyres.
The boys appreciate the help, commitment and support that all of their sponsors, especially gobike and Canberra Motorcycle Centre, make towards improving the fun, enjoyment, safety and profile of our sport.
