I“ve been back on the road for over a year now since the big stack, I“ve taken my new black “99 TRX850L from 2600klm to 22600 in about 14 months (including a one month ride around Tasmania back in January. Love the TRX, a friend asked me what bike I“d get next... thought about it for a while (not very long) then realised the obvious answer is... another TRX. Yamaha made a mistake discontinuing this model, might not be the fastest thing on two wheels but its the most fun bike I“ve ever ridden (sounds awesome too!). Thinking about some VeeTwo hot cams as I“ve heard they“re chronic (not that I need more grunt but if it were there I“m sure I“d use it!).
Previous post:
Just smashed my first TRX, very sad (oh, and my arm and my pelvis). Will get another TRX ASAP (when my body mends). Great fun bike (except for that last 5 seconds).

Had many bikes previously, liked Yamaha SRXes as well, and a great assortment of dirtbikes & farm bikes :)
Favorites...
Shane“s RD350 streetfighter,
Rod“s RZ250,
Pete“s YZ-80 & XR600,
Meggs“ 73 Sportster,
My first real (roadworthy) bike, “88 XT250
I“m not in need of more hoon potential than the TRX provides (perfectly hoonable), I do about 70 kays per day in peak traffic, heading to work in the city center and back, occasionally I head down the coast for a weekend, Great Ocean Rd is terriffic on this machine!. I do 20,000+ kilometers per year.
NEWSFLASH! 21 July 2005: Just bought a replacement with the proceeds of the insurance and a lot of extra cash of my own (so much for replacement value!). Found a 99 TRX 850L 99model (again) but in black and with only 2000kms on the odometer! Barely ridden in. Sad really, I“m going to take it from showroom condition to filthy abused hyper-commuter but I“ll do it in style :) Have had a pre-emptive 12,000 kilometer service as the black TRX had so little use in the six years it had been gathering dust. I also had the baffles removed from the cans so now its a true thumper again. Goes damn well. LOVE IT!
