Hello,
Here is a brief history of her.
My name is John and I live in Robbinston, Maine just a few miles south of Calais, Maine which is the furthest point East in the state of Maine. I purchased my FLHS from the original owner in Madawaska, Maine back in 1990. Madawaska by the way is one of the "Four Corners" of the United States. I was born and raised in Frenchville just a few miles from Madawaska.
I owe my entire "Harley" experience to my best freind John who let me take his FLH for a ride one day. I had my then 1982 Honda CB900 and his was a 1979 FLH. On the ride he suggested we switch bikes. That´s all it took!! The next day we were at his house looking through the papers and calling every dealer we knew looking for a Harley for myself. After 4 hours of searching with no luck I decided to head back home. As I arrived home, John called me and said he had found the bike I wanted. I didn´t beleive him cause i had just left there empty handed. Come to find out, a freind of his had called him and told him he had just been sentenced to a few years at the "Crowbar Hotel" and needed to sell his bike quick!! Great timing on my part!!!
The bike needed some definate TLC but hey it was a Harley and it was mine!!! Before I knew it, the boys and I were heading to Laconia Bikeweek. That´s a whole other story!! Throughout the years I´ve made several mechanical as well as cosmetic improvements to her. I installed the riding lights up front, pull back handlebars, mini floor boards, drag pipes, Drag Specialty seat ( which will soon be a Corbin gunfighter thanks to Shorty), chromed swingarm, rocker boxes, and much more. Mechanically, she has had a top and bottom end overhaul, new clutches, S&S Carb, and starter. I think the fact that she still has the original factory paint is worth mentioning as well.
Fast forward to today.....she now has 55,000 miles on her. She is in semi-retirement now as I also have a 2001 Ultra Classic. My future plans are (and I have no date for this) to totally break her down to the frame. I want to rebuild her and install all new wiring, powder coat the frame, new shocks, chrome brake calipers, etc. She deserves it. She´s the type of bike that a biker can really appreciate. She doesn´t have a fancy paintjob. She doesn´t have all the extra horsepower. The one thing she DOES have is "Class". She´s always been good to me and always has taken me back home.
Thanks for listening
