I had always admired Honda bikes since the days of Mike Hailwood and the small-bore campaigns of the early '60s, so in the later '60s I bought my first bikes - a cl72 and then a cl77.
In 1970 I bought a new '70 Triumph Bonneville in London during a trip, and when I got back to the States, one of my roommates had just bought a brand new Honda 750.
I remember the first time I climbed on the Honda to take a ride.
I was amazed by the width of the engine and the precision sound of the valve train.
As much as I enjoyed that Triumph (especially the handling),
I sold the Bonneville a couple of years later, and I went thirty years without a bike. You know...wife, kids, job, etc.
Then in 2003 I worked with a couple of guys who rode, and I just happened across Rob Lloyd's yellow '77 CB 550 (that's Ford School Bus Yellow by the way) on EBay.
Anyway, the bus still runs great, and gets a regular workout as an almost daily driver.
See you on the street !
