I have ridden dirt/enduro bikes til 2001 when I was given a tired 1981 CM 400 E. Three years later I have Completely rebuilt the little engine using all new Honda parts. Found a six speed on Ebay. Fits in the 400 cases like stock. Doesnt really make these bikes faster on top end but first gear is stronger and just shifting into 6th gear brings a smile to my face. The bike is currently Metallic grey with all chrome flat blacked. The exhaust system is now true duals and has a nasty little rap to it. Found cylinders for a CM 450 on ebay. Also fits the 400 cases. Had to change the balancers to reflect the new piston weight. Anyone wishing to modify one of these engines please feel free to contact me. I have researched extensively these engines in my quest for more performance and reliability. As an aircraft mechanic, I found many things which work well for air cooled aircraft engines also apply to this little aircooled mill.
