Information: BMW thought they would compete with the Honda Goldwing with this model. Granted the GL 1500 would be introduced the next year, but it wasn’t in the same class. This is a nimble 1000cc motorcycle that will gobble up the miles. This one has been virtually trouble free for the 18 years I have owned it. Other than routine maintenance all I add is a bettery about every 7 years and that’s it. This model is an inline 4 cylinder, 8 valve DOHC motorcycle. Next year or so BMW went to a 16 valve design and gave it another
100 cc’s along with many other improvements.
